Gas Marketers Seek Stable Gas Prices For All From The Government

The Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) has urged the Federal Government to find more effective methods to ensure stable gas prices and access for all Nigerians.

Abideen Olatunbosun, NALPGAM's National President, voiced this concern during their 36th annual general meeting and conference in Ibadan, Oyo State, under the theme "Expanding gas utilization beyond imagination."

He expressed worry that if gas prices continue to rise, it may become a luxury affordable only to the wealthy. Olatunbosun emphasized the need for the government to maintain gas price stability and make it accessible to all Nigerians, as failure to do so could result in gas becoming a commodity exclusively for the affluent.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of enhancing gas utilization in the country to benefit the environment and the economy.

In a related lecture, Sunday Isehunwa, from the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Ibadan, highlighted various challenges facing the LPG market in Nigeria, including demand and supply fluctuations, shifts in natural gas production and consumption, price fluctuations, and electricity pricing issues.
